I have had extensive exposure to all stages of structural design of building structures in steel, concrete and composite materials. Specialist design experience has been gained in planning and design of top-down basement construction, and the design of tall buildings for dynamic loading. This position involves preliminary and detailed design of all aspects of building structures, preparation of tender and construction documents and periodic supervision of structures under construction. These functions are carried out with limited supervision of the firm’s principal. The role requires liaison with clients, contractors and other members of the consultant team involved on the projects, and delivery of documents on time and within budget.

In this role, Jeffrey managed the technical and human resources of a design office servicing large projects throughout Malaysia, and reported to both local and Brisbane-based senior management. Aside from performing preliminary and detailed design and documentation of building structures, he managed a team of on-site resident engineers conducting supervision of various projects under construction. Many of the projects undertaken in this period brought together consultant teams from multiple countries, and required close liaison with clients to overcome the hurdles of a volatile economic market.

Preliminary and detailed design of a 30 level reinforced concrete apartment building at Surfers Paradise.
Preliminary and detailed design of a 28 level reinforced concrete apartment building in the Brisbane CBD.
Detailed design and construction supervision of structural elements for 12 and 17 level apartment buildings. The tower structure consists of reinforced concrete flat plates and a post-tensioned transfer grillage over the carpark levels.
Preliminary and detailed design of all structural elements for a 15 level apartment building in the Brisbane CBD, and periodic supervision during construction.
Detailed design and construction supervision of a reinforced concrete, 17 level apartment tower. The project was documented on a design-construct basis, requiring document delivery on a tight schedule to suit the contractor.
Detailed design and construction supervision of a 14000 m2 warehouse utilising portal frames and tilt-up panels.
Detailed design and construction supervision of all elements of the structure for two 14 level apartment buildings overlooking the Brisbane CBD. Concept design, design development and management of detailed design and documentation for a 34 level beachfront hotel and apartment complex over three basements in adverse ground conditions.
Design development, detailed design and site supervision for a 20 storey 600 room hotel and 20 storey office tower over six podium levels and five basement levels. The structure was designed for simultaneous top down and tower construction, and employed composite vertical and transfer elements.
A condominium development comprising 13 towers varying from 13 to 35 storeys. Involvement included detailed design, construction support, management of the engineering team providing site supervision and contract management for aspects of the foundation works.

Our extensive use of tele-commuting staff presented unique challenges for effective design collaboration and document control. The Microsoft Office System with Windows Sharepoint Services has been successfully implemented and is providing numerous benefits both internally and for our clients.
Implemented a Quality Assurance System for Bruce Lemcke Engineering which complies with ISO 9000:2000.
Conducted a parametric study of a viscoelastic model of a thin bitumen layer. Using the finite difference package FLAC, recommendations for model size and element proportions were developed.
